MTR Corporation Limited ("MTR") policy is to comply with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. We limit the collection and use of personal data (which is information about individuals from which it is possible to identify that individual) to the specific information we need to operate our business, provide our services to you and offer various opportunities and information which may be of interest to you.

This statement explains our practice in relation to the collection, retention, storage and sharing of personal data.

Collection and Use of Personal Data

The personal data we collect from you will be used to assist us in providing the relevant services. In addition, we may use the personal data for internal statistical research and analysis, and for marketing purposes.

However, if you desire to opt-out from receiving any marketing materials or email updates from us, you can choose that option at the time of sending us the data, or subsequently unsubscribe to these services by updating your profile or contacting our Intercity Passenger Services Centre at ipsc@mtr.com.hk

Cookies and Log files

Some personal data may be gathered over the Internet through the use of “cookies”. Cookies are small bits of information that are automatically stored by a website on a person’s web browser in their computer that can be retrieved by that website. However, if you do so, you may not be able to access certain areas of our website.

We may collect information regarding your IP address, browser type, domain name and access time.

Security

When collecting personal data over the Internet we will use such secured encryption systems as are appropriate to the nature of the data being collected.

(3) to any part of our corporate group or any actual or prospective:-

• (i) transferee of all or part of our business;
• (ii) merger partner; or
• (iii) purchaser of MTR or any part of our corporate group.

Data Retention

Personal data you provide to us will be retained only for such period as may be necessary for the carrying out of the purposes referred to in this Privacy Policy Statement or as otherwise specified at the time of collection.

You have the right to request access to and (if appropriate) correction of personal data held by us about you.
